Closer than ever. OhMyShape! is just around the corner.
The closed beta has concluded. I must say that I have received a lot of feedback, and the bug fixes and improvements have been for the better.
I’ve also added enhancements that occurred to me on the fly, something that you should never do, but in this case, I think I made the right choice.
For example, I added a camera shake effect when you have the power of the square activated and collide with other shapes, when the triangle’s shot destroys a shape, or when you simply collide when you shouldn’t and die. It may seem trivial, but a simple camera movement effect brings a lot of life to the game.
Thanks to my wife, I’ve implemented some visual improvements, reduced UI sizes, and changed the typography to one called Josefina. What a name, LOL. The best part is that I didn’t know how to change the font (this shows that I still have a lot to learn about Unity). It’s not the same when you use Unity’s Text component as when you use TextMeshPro and have to create a new Font Asset.
We also have an official logo for both Google Play Store and Android, a new title, and the screenshots required by Google. Off the cuff, we are 99.9% ready to have the game.
And, what’s missing? Something I mentioned in previous devlogs. Something still bothers me about the difficulty of the levels. So, apart from continuing to test the game, over the next 3 or 4 days, I will try different combinations to see if I find the key or a combination that I like more.
So yes, we are closer than ever. If nothing strange happens, it is very likely that by the end of this week, I will press the red button to publish the game for everyone. How nerve-wracking. And this also means that I will be (incredibly) meeting the deadline I’ve been repeating for months of the end of August.
In the meantime, I’ll leave a trailer video that I’ve made to also serve as a game video on the Play Store here. I’m not a great editor, but I like how it turned out.
I’ve also some news about my VR development path but that´s for another day! See you very soon!
